Privacy Policy

WattRate publishes public energy data. We don't have accounts, we don't sell data, and this page explains the few things that do happen.

What we collect

  • No accounts, no profiles. There is nothing to sign up for, and we never ask for personal information.
  • Server logs. Like nearly every website, our host keeps short-lived request logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
  • Search queries are used only to show you results on the search page; they are not stored or shared by us.

Advertising & cookies

  • This site is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, and third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info.
  • For visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, a Google-certified consent manager (IAB TCF v2.2) asks before advertising cookies are set: you can accept, reject, or choose per purpose. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie; revisit it any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
  • The advertising vendors involved are named in the consent message itself and in Google's partner-sites disclosure.

The data we publish

All figures on this site come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (public-domain government data) and are republished with their data windows stamped. We link the underlying sources on the methodology page, and the data itself is available to download on the open data page.
