About WattRate

Electricity is the one bill every household pays — and the numbers behind it are public, but buried in federal spreadsheets. WattRate digs them out, monthly.

What we publish

  • State pages — average residential bill, price per kWh, 10-year trend, month-by-month history, the largest utilities, and neighbor comparisons.
  • Utility pages — annual residential rates and bills for the largest US utilities, compared to their state.
  • City pages — practical bill estimates with the data basis printed on the page.

Why trust the numbers

  • Every figure traces to the U.S. Energy Information Administration — public-domain data built for exactly this purpose.
  • Every page stamps its data window and verification date; nothing is quietly aged.
  • The methodology page states the formulas, units, and known limitations in plain text.

Contact & corrections

Spot a number that looks wrong, or a utility we should track? Email corrections@mywattbill.com. The pipeline re-verifies monthly, and corrections are welcome — the site's data sources and formulas are documented end to end.
